Ten Years Long. Ten Years Strong. We are moving on.
Ten years ago, from a simple get together (retrouvailles) amongst old friends and schoolmates, emerged an organization with a powerful mission to give back to the youth of our homeland, Haiti. Thus, the Collège Canado-Haitien & Frères du Sacré-Coeur Alumni Association (CCH-FSCAA) was formed and legalized as a not-for-profit 501© (3) association with full transparency and accountability to everyone. The mission was and still is to provide less fortunate Haitian students with the priceless gift of an education.
The beauty of this endeavor was not inspired as a result of a natural disaster or from a man-made catastrophe. It took root out of our loyalty to our alma mater and our mutual respect for one another. This initiative helped also to enhance our social skills, shape our minds and consciousness while deepening our love for Haiti which clearly defines who we are today.
Therefore, as we reflect back on ten years of ·Fourth, to implement the program sponsored by our Boston, MA chapter. The aim of this program is to inspire our recipients to give back, to be morally obligated to facilitate the next generation in the same manner or better. With the continuous support of you, the alumni and friends, we can help in the development of the children, our future leaders of Haiti. As we are celebrating the tenth anniversary of CCH-FSCAA, it is gratifying to know that the future of the children is promising, and it is all because of you. We humbly thank you for your generous support. dedication, we measure time by the hundreds of the less fortunate Haitian students we were able to help continue and finish their studies, of course, with the cooperation of the leadership of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart school network in Haiti. John F. Kennedy once said in a speech: “To those whom much is given, much is expected.” Education is the gift that keeps on giving. None of that would have been possible without your help, the support of alumni, friends and those who have embraced such a noble cause. Everyone deserves an opportunity to receive not only an education but also to a completed one. Now, what is to come in the next ten years? In the next ten years, our goals are the following:
First, to raise $1,000,000 towards the reconstruction effort by November 2013.
Second, to increase the amount received for scholarships and grants by 50% thus helping more students, especially those in the provinces. ·
Third, to provide bonuses and recognitions to those teachers that endeavor themselves to maintain an environment that encourages excellence.
Fourth, to implement the program sponsored by our Boston, MA chapter. The aim of this program is to inspire our recipients to give back, to be morally obligated to facilitate the next generation in the same manner or better. With the continuous support of you, the alumni and friends, we can help in the development of the children, our future leaders of Haiti.

The essential mission of the CCH-FSCAA is to contribute to the development of Haitian society by working in the following areas: Education, Culture, Health and Environment. The CCH-FSCAA is committed to promoting education in Haiti by providing concrete assistance to the Canadian-Haitian College first, and then to other schools run by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. Other areas such as Health, Culture and Environment will be considered in the future.
To succeed in its mission, the CCH-FSCAA has adopted the following objectives:
Find as many former students as possible who attended one of the schools run by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart; organize for the promotion and well-being of schools and actively support projects undertaken in this direction.
Encourage and strengthen the bonds of friendship between the Brothers, teachers, students and elders.
To foster excellence in education by providing scholarships to students and incentive awards to teachers for their academic and professional development.
Include all those who share the generous idea and the humanist vision of the association.
· Create and administer funds to be used for projects related to these schools.

"Please don't let go of the string
I am just a kite.
Please don't let go of the string
My life depends on it.
Please,Don't let go now! »
(Jean-Claude Gianadda)
This chorus is the one I sang out loud while I visited the CEFLB (LOUIS BELLABE EDUCATION AND TRAINING CENTER) a few hours after Hurricane Matthew hit. From the depths of my being this need for explanation, for affection, for reasoning, for lying truth, has sprung up in song. This air helped me to externalize this feeling of abandonment and rejection of the cruel reality that invaded me. And I begged God not to let me go now, to reach out to me, to get up from my kneeling position.
Kneeling from the loss of everything that made the center proud. Lame tables and chairs. Pages of books that clung to each other as if to fight against the inevitable. Electronic devices from which water dripped from this raging rain. Sad educational games in their dirty, muddy colors. Wet clothes, scattered and black with dirt… Everywhere desolation…
The roof is open under the gaze of an inclement sky and preparing for its next showers. The sun shining by its absence and its cowardice. An ugly and frightening landscape in its nudity. Relatives, neighbors and friends in their bodily expressions of despair, with their wet and lifeless eyes, in their walks of ghosts, lost in broad daylight, shouting to each other: WE TOUT JWENN…
Today, after nature has taken back its rights, my distress is extinguished and optimism has returned to me, but the worries about the future of this youth hanging on to the CEFLB live in me. May souls of good will listen to this appeal that I am making so that, together, we put this Education and Training Center back on solid feet, the children who are demanding the full reopening on a daily basis.
Please, as good tools of the divine, do not let go of the string! Their life depends on it!
